Bringing Handmade Identity to Life: The Creation of Moka Studio's Logo
Handmade, sustainability, and upcycling are the three key pillars of the emerging brand Moka Studio. Defined by a "slow-made" approach to fashion, the brand emphasizes the art of crafting original handbags and accessories while repurposing second-hand garments.
I was asked to create a unique logo inspired by their ethos, emphasizing craftsmanship and a handmade aesthetic. To achieve this, I decided to set aside my digital tools for once and return to traditional painting. Using the back of a paintbrush and acrylic colors, I began designing the name Moka on an A2 paper sheet. Once I discovered interesting shapes, I transferred the design into Illustrator, transforming the acrylic work into a vector format.
Moka’s goal was to send the vector file to a company specializing in stamps, allowing them to avoid mass-produced labels for their handbags. Instead, they wanted to create their own labels from scrap garments and use the stamp to leave a distinctive mark on their products.
