Joko: Bold, Playful Type Inspired by Tyler the Creator
Typography has always fascinated me, not just as a tool for communication but as a form of self-expression. I’ve always admired fonts that carry personality, ones that refuse to conform to the stiff, corporate norms of traditional design. That’s exactly what led me to create a font inspired by Tyler, the Creator.
Tyler isn’t just a musician he’s a visual storyteller, a designer, and a disruptor. His approach to branding, from GOLF WANG to Camp Flog Gnaw, is a mix of playful nostalgia and loud, unapologetic individuality. His use of fonts, often blocky, awkward, and slightly offbeat, feels personal, raw, and imperfect in the best way. It made me realize: why should typography always be polished? Why can’t it be fun?
